Caught in the act of standing on her head, at six years old, Orit decided seeing life from a different angle is something she would like to make a profession of. This idea has taken various shapes and forms through her professional life and work.
Orit Nevo was born in Haifa, Israel in 1968.
She has been performing since the age of 15 as stilt walker, mime, working in physical and visual theatre and as a professional dancer, specialized in Butoh before starting her way in circus.
She studied and worked mostly in Europe between 1989 and the year 2000.
In 1996 she became the first Israeli aerialist, performing mostly in the air since, both in Israel and abroad.
In 2001 she Established The Free Dome Project, that became the first Israeli Circus venue, school and creation center in Binyamina, she was the artistic director of that center until June 2005. After the setting down of The Free Dome Tent in Binyamina, Orit became active on an International level creating P.I.F, an artistic dialogue and collaboration between Palestinian, Israeli and French artists. She has been consulting to various organizations such as theatre and dance companies, festivals and circus schools in Israel. She has been teaching extensively both in Israel and abroad aerial choreography and technique.
In recent years she has been concentrating on directing contemporary circus shows in Israel and working with professional artists, coaching, consulting and generally promoting professional circus education and creation in Israel.
Important creations since returning to Israel in September 2000 include: Tight Freedom (2003) a solo performance in the air and on the ground, created in collaboration with Karen Arzuan. Café de la Paix (perfomed in Circa 2004) an Israeli-Palestinian cabaret about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the human condition in this region. “Peace of cake” an aerial dance directed for Ma Hakesher Company(2008) . Orit is now working on a new show entitled “Once upon a time” with Fly-Y Company.
Orit is a visionary and leading figure and ambassador of Contemporary Israeli Circus.
She is the Founder and lead visionary of the ground breaking Contemporary Circus Initiative.

ON – interesting facts I wish to share:
- I am happily married to Assaf and we live in the house of our dreams which we designed and built together, by the beach in Hadera, Israel.
- Our son, Oran will be 4 years old next summer.
- I have a performance record f 24 years in streets, on stages, walls and in the air.
- I have been hanging from ship masts, bridges, wind mills and numerous trees for some of my performances.
- I have the habit of building the equipment I work with.
- I used to perform swinging on the trapeze with no attached security measures.
- I fell only once from a 3 meters high fixed trapeze, nothing happened, it was a good fall, never happened again
- The first language I learned to speak was English, while living in the US when I was two and three years old.
- I have been living in Europe for 10 years, where I got all my training and started my professional life and work.
- I speak Hebrew, English, French, Italian and German.
- Co-founded and directed 3 companies
- Traveled to more than 25 countries. Lived in 4 of them for extensive periods of time (more than 2 years)
- Lost my elder brother Tal in the 1973 October war, I was 5 years old at the time.
- Have been active for peace in the middle east through my work, since returning to Israel in September 2000
- I started coaching other people in 1996
- I started teaching in 1994
- I love my life.
